Load the Lake with Walleye 2022
In October of 2022 a year's work on our fish stocking project came to fruition. Working in conjunction with Wisconsin DNR the St Croix Headwaters Foundation was able stock 3,200 walleye Lake St. Croix. The fish averaged 6" in length with some hitting the 9"-10" range. These larger fish have a much better survival rate than typical fingerling stock. The walleye stocking program was our signature project motivating the formation of the foundation. Fishing is the number one driver of tourism in norther Wisconsin communities!
Solon Springs Summer School Goes Fishing!
St Croix Headwaters Foundation is proud to support the Solon Springs Summer School fishing program. Volunteers have taken over 45 children on 90 minute fishing adventures. For some this was their first time on the water or catching fish! Over one hundred fish were caught including crappie, bass, and northern. Some were heard "This saying was the best day ever!"
The foundation has donated many rods and reels for the kids to use along with purchasing bait from local stores. Thanks to all the volunteers that make this happen! We look forward to continued support of this program in the future.

Buoy Markers on the Gordon Flowage
Working in conjunction with the Gordon Flowage Lake Association our foundation has agreed to placing and maintaining buoy markers on the flowage. The buoys mark rock piles and other objects to help create a safer boating experience and prevent damage to watercraft. Water levels on flowage lakes change significantly through the year, please use caution - even in proximity to buoy markers.
